May we present ourselves
We are a mixed choir of many ages, genders, confessions and nations, and we share a common enthusiasm in singing. Anyone who shares this love for music is welcome to join in.
Our conductor Matthias Krampe is a well renown expert in sacred music, so the focus lies in this field, ranging from renaissance up to contemporary music. An important and enriching part of both rehearsal and performance is introducing the historical performance practice. Bach, Leechner, Rauch, Schütz, Schein, Telemann, Purcell, Dowland or Franck are – at the same time as Mozart, Mendelssohn-Bartholdy or Brahms – part of our repertoire, but also contemporary composers such as Büchtger, Honegger, Jennefeldt, Nordal, Nystedt, Rutter, Copland, Sløgedal or Myškinis. Concerts are sometimes a capella, but mostly together with vocal soloists and orchestra or instrumentalists.
Twice a year, we prepare a concert program, in between we contribute to other occasions such as a musical program in services of our hosting church.
Rehearsals take place (almost) every Monday from 19.30 to 21.30 at Dorotheergasse 16, 1010 Wien (central district, next to St Stephens Square).
Also twice a year, we do concentrated work on our choir weekend, where a whole weekend is dedicated to rehearsal in places such as Stift Melk, Stift Altenburg or Burg Feistritz.
If you are interested in joining in, drop by in one of our Monday evening rehearsals to find out if we can bet he right place for you.
PS: You can find the latest news such as holidays, celebrations, concerts .and so on – unfortunately only in German – under “Neuigkeiten”.
How to find the rehearsal room : When you stand in Dorotheergasse in front of the yellow church (Number 16) you can see a large green door on your left hand. Enter the door and cross the courtyard. On your left hand side you at the ground floor you see the rehearsal room.
